iPhone 11 Or iPhone 12: Which One To Buy In 2023?

iPhone 11 or iPhone 12: With the arrival of the iPhone 14 on the market last year, it is normal for previous Apple models to start showing a price drop.

With that, many people doubt buying the iPhone 11 or iPhone 12 due to the similarity between the two. But which one is more worthwhile in 2023?

Let’s look at the main differences between them to help you weigh whether the iPhone 11 is the best investment today or whether it pays to spend a little more and guarantee the iPhone 12.

iPhone 11 Or iPhone 12?

Before pointing out the differences between smartphone generations to find out which is the best buy, let’s get to know the models launched in each. It is important to remember that Apple brings different versions of the same release, which come with additional features and weighs on the final price. Therefore, for comparison purposes, we will use the base models: iPhone 11 and iPhone 12.

iPhone 11 Line

The iPhone 11 was released in September 2019 and hit the market, in addition to the flagship model, with the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The first inaugurated Apple’s concept of bringing two separate cameras to the back of the smartphone, while the other two have triple-lens.

The main differences between them are in the size and technology of the screen, in addition to the extra sensor in the photographic set and price. While the iPhone 11 has a 6.1-inch IPS LCD, the 11 Pro comes with 5.85 inches, and the 11 Pro Max with 6.5, both with OLED technology.

iPhone 12 Line

The iPhone 12 reached consumers just over a year later, in October 2020. In addition to the iPhone 12, Apple again bet on a smaller version, the iPhone 12 mini, and the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. In this 12th generation, the manufacturer brought all variations with an OLED screen, differing only by the display size. The 12 and 12 Pro Max are 6.1 inches, the 12 minis 5.4″, and the 12 Pro Max 6.7″.

Another difference is the amount of RAM, since the base model and the mini come with 4GB, while the Pro variations come with 6GB. It is worth remembering that all these distinctions within the line itself influence the final price of each one.

Design And Connections

In terms of design, aside from varying sizes, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 have minor differences in construction. The two devices are very similar, and what draws attention most is that the iPhone 11 has rounded edges, present in the predecessor models, while the iPhone 12 returned with straight corners, as it was until the iPhone 5. button placements and camera position are the same.

Now, the available connections can be enjoyable when choosing between the iPhone 11 or iPhone 12. The two devices have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC for approximation payments, and IP68 protection against water and dust. The big difference is that the iPhone 12 supports a 5G connection, while its predecessor is 4G only. This is a significant differential for those who want to keep their cell phone longer, as 5G networks allow for a faster and more stable connection.

Screen

On the screen, we already have a considerable difference. The iPhone 11 has an IPS LCD in its base model versus an OLED screen in the iPhone 12. The technology in the 12’s display provides more vivid colors, better brightness levels, and deeper blacks. Users will have more quality when viewing their favorite content, and the OLED screen has better energy optimization, reducing battery consumption during operation. The refresh rate of both is 60Hz.

Who Gets The Best Performance?

As for performance, the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 12 have 4GB of RAM, and the maximum internal storage of the latest is 256GB, against 512GB of the iPhone 11. The iPhone 11 processor is the Apple A13 Bionic, and its successor has the Apple A14 Bionic. Both are compelling devices, capable of handling large applications and heavy games with maximum graphic quality without the user worrying about stuttering and crashes.

But, the iPhone 12 takes the best performance. Because its chipset is more recent, it brings better optimizations to the operating system, and the tendency is for it to continue working correctly for a more extended period as time goes by. As for speed, the difference to the iPhone 11 is almost invisible for most users and does not interfere with usability.

Cameras

One thing is for sure, Apple does an excellent job with its cameras, and the user should be satisfied regardless of choice between the iPhone 11 or iPhone 12. Both models have a primary camera, an ultrawide sensor, and a front camera, all 12MP each. However, the iPhone 12 also wins the comparison. The primary sensor has a larger aperture, capturing up to 27% more light. The result is better photos in low-light conditions or at night.

Speaking of night mode, the iPhone 11 can only use it on the primary rear camera. The iPhone 12 also allows the use of the ultrawide lens. Another highlight is the better final processing of images thanks to the more powerful A14 Bionic chipset. For those who enjoy recording videos, both record in 4K resolution, but the iPhone 12 allows the user to register with HDR and Dolby Vision.

Who Has The Best Battery?

The iPhone 11 has 3,110 mAh against the 2,815 mAh of the iPhone 12. But anyone who thinks the battery is better based on these numbers must be corrected. Even though the iPhone 12 battery has less capacity, the processor and screen have optimized operation that reduces energy consumption, thus providing greater autonomy. But it is always good to remember that the duration will depend a lot on each user’s use.
